Jeremy Cunningham was born in Cincinnati, OH to two parents who had a love for music. At a young age Jeremy was exposed to Milt Jackson, George Benson, Pink Floyd, and the Rolling Stones, yet it wasn’t until the age of fourteen that Jeremy found the drums.

While playing a gig as a teenager, Jeremy met famed trumpeter Brad Goode and was persuaded to study jazz and improvisation at the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music (CCM), where Brad was currently teaching. While at CCM, Jeremy took private lessons from Art Gore, Marc Wolfley and John Von Ohlen, and percussionists James Culley and Rusty Burge. After completing his studies, Jeremy began touring with Napoleon Maddox’s IsWhat?!, and the Jon Justice Band playing at clubs and festivals throughout the United States, including a European tour with IsWhat?! to France and Estonia.

Since moving to Chicago in the fall of 2009, Jeremy has integrated himself into the the vibrant music scene. He has performed with Von Freeman, Chris Foreman, Dan Trudell, Dave Miller, Caroline Davis, and many others. He is also a member of Marquis Hill’s Blacktet, the Rebecca Sullivan Quintet, the Sam Macy Trio, the James Johnston Band, and the Mike Allemana Quartet. Jeremy also teaches private lessons and coaches a band at the Laughlin School of Music in Northbrook, IL.
