Gerald Dowd, monorail enthusiast and professional scoundrel, has been playing drums since the age of 10. His first jazz record was a Buddy Rich/Mel Torme side which he still owns. He wonders if it's worth anything on eBay. Over the years, he has recorded and/or performed with Robbie Fulks, Justin Roberts, Mavis Staples, Chris Mills, George Jones, Lush Budgett, Ari Brown, Tony Maimone, Brian Ohern and the Model Citizens Big Band, Arturo Sandoval, Edith Frost, Milt Hinton, Marshall Crenshaw and Rich Little. Over the last 15 years, he has toured extensively in the US and Europe, playing world-class stages such as the Grand Ole Opry, Symphony Space, London's Borderline, and the Pritzker Pavilion at Millenium Park, sharing these stages with reknowned artists such as Allison Krauss, They Might Be Giants, Julie Andrews, Ben Folds, and Medeski, Martin and Wood. Among his fondest memories of being overseas were the french fries with garlic aoili found at many mid-level, take-out dining establishments throughout the greater Amsterdam area. That, and the architecture or whatever. Go, BoSox.
