Born and raised in Chicago, Matt has been a mainstay on the
Chicago jazz scene since the early '90's when he was studying music at
DePaul University.?His real?jazz education?was not received in the
classroom but rather, on?stages?of the Bop Shop--where he worked as
house bassist?for Lin Halliday's?weekly jam-session--and the New
Apartment Lounge--where he filled in with Von Freeman's?Quartet on a
semi-regular basis. The education continues: he's been a regular member
of Vonski's band since 2003.
?
?? A very in-demand freelancer,?Matt has?performed with a long
list of artists of local and international renown such as Arturo
Sandoval, Eric Alexander, Rob Mazurek, Jeff Parker, Clyde Stubblefield,
Jodie Christian and George Freeman to name just a few.
?
?? His band?affiliations over the last decade-plus include the
Mike Allemana Quartet, the Ron Dewar Quintet, the John Brumbach Quartet
the Von Freeman Quartet and?the Model Citizens Big Band.
